Irish Traditional Music Sessions

Sessions

The quintessential irish music experience, a session is a group of musicians sitting together in a public place playing traditional Irish dance music. We have a range of venues in central Nelson that will be host to all the festival guests over the course of the weekend. Entry is free so come down and enjoy the 'Craic' that only Irish music can create.

For Irish Musicians

Friday 8pm is the welcome session at Lambretta's on Hardy St, come and mingle and meet up. Lambretta's will be open before hand so that you can get a bite to eat before the session starts they will have a nice array of pizza and pasta with vegetarian options. They will close after the session is concluded but not to worry we have the House of Ales which is literally just around the corner from 10pm onwards into the night.

We anticipate that there could be as many traditional musicians in town and splitting up into smaller groups will be a good thing if these are going to work. There'll be players of different abilities around so it might be an idea to find the right session for you - think about session etiquette before you jump in!
