Irish Music Classes

What is on offer?

We have a great line up of tutors for 2010. Please scroll down the page to see the tutors for each instrument.

Class and learning format

Classes are held on all three mornings of the festival (5-7 June) between 10am and 12.30pm. The classes are kept to a maximum number of 20 students in order to faciltate the optimum learning environment. This usually means that the Fiddle and Flute classes are split into intermediate and advanced streams.

All classes are taught in the traditional style, by ear, and students are expected to be at a intermediate or advanced level in Irish music. If you have any questions about this please contact us. The exception to this is the Introduction to Irish music. This will cater for beginners and non musicians.

It is appropriate to bring recording devices such as MP3 players, minidiscs or walkmans as the tutor is not obliged to write out the tunes for the student.

Venue

The classes will be held in the Nelson English Centre, 189 Hardy Street - see the map for directions. A timetable will be available closer to the event. In the unlikely event of a particular class having very low numbers of registrations, we reserve the right to cancel that class. In that case, you can transfer to another class or get a refund.

Registrations

See the Registration page for details of how to reserve your place.
